TOP 10 Best Smartphone and Tablet Games for Traveling

Travel is absolutely one of the best experience ever and of course it’s a part of our lives that we are not going to forget…and we are all agree with that. Maybe you know the quote:

The journey is more important than the destination

Ok, that’s true, but let us make it clear: sometimes, if the journey is too long, that’s gonna be fucking annoying. Most of the time we have to undertake long journey to reach our dream destinations that become endless and really horrible. Just imagine when you take multiple long flights with long stopover in some airport (Once I had a stopover in Dubai and next flight was after 11 hours…thank you Emirates) or a train journey, maybe in China or India where distances are enormous and trains are really slow, uncomfortable etc.. So you have some alternative to spend your time in this kind of situation: sleep, read a book or a magazine, watch a movie or your favourite TV Series or play a videogame. As a confirmed gamer I personally prefer to kill the time playing some awesome game with my smartphone or tablet and, for this reason, I have created a list with the best games that every traveler should download and play to pass the time during endless and boring trips:

Top 10 of the Best Smartphone and Tablet games for traveling

10. Clash of clans

Available on iOS App Store and Google Play Store

Gameplay video

Multilanguage: Yes

With more over than 100.000.000 downloads Clash of Clans is one of the most played videogames played in the world. Developed and released by the finnish games company “Supercell” in 2012 for iOS and in 2013 for Android, Clash of clans has conquered in few years the mobile videogame market as an online multiplayer game in which players can build their own community, train their troops, defend fortresses and attack other players with cannons, bombs, traps etc. to earn gold, elixir and dark Elixir, useful to upgrade your defenses and army. It looks easy, I could talk about CoC for hours, but it is more difficult than might appear, in fact you have to use all your strategic skills to place your defenses and attack in the right moment and everything must be perfectly coordinated if you want to avoid bad surprises. It being an online game you can play using an internet connection, so not useful when you travel, but there is an offline mode just for iOS devices so you will able to play whenever you want.

Anyway, statistics demonstrate CoC is a game that portend hours of pure fun and it’s totally deserves a place in our Top 10.

Gameplay video

Since its launch in 2009 Angry Birds has become one of the most played games for smartphone and tablet. If you don’t know this epic game your purpose is quite simple: you will have to get back your eggs from evil pigs…How? simple, using a slingshot to throw your kamikaze birds and destroy all the pigs in the field. In these years the finnish game developer “Rovio Mobile” has been released many versions of Angry Birds, such us: Angry birds Star Wars (I and II), Angry Birds Rio, Angry Birds Transformers, Angry Birds Friends, Angry Birds 2 etc….most of the time improving graphics and playability and increasing its popularity, but in the latest versions, in particular I mean “Angry birds 2”, something has changed. In fact the Angry birds peculiarity is that was completely free, but the new chapter has become freemium, so you’ll need to pay to keep playing. For example, if you want play more in a specific arena or you want more spells you should waiting for 12 hours or get ready your credit card. Anyway, although this “little” detail it’s impossible don’t include Angry Birds to this list.

8. Lara Croft: Relic run

Gameplay video

Who doesn’t love Lara Croft? Personally I have grown up with her adventures since the first chapter for Playstation 1, so it was impossible for me don’t include her to this list even if “Lara Croft: Relic run” it’s not the classic Tomb Raider we used to know. Actually this game takes the dynamic from “Temple run”, a 3D endless running game where you will have to dress the part of an explorer and escape from the temple trying to avoid the violent apes in a jungle maze. In Lara Croft: Relic run is basically the same, but in different locations that our heroine has visited in these years in her countless stories, and of course use vehicles such as snowmobile, motorbike and quad. In every scenery you will have to test yourself with yeti, dangerous indigenous and dinosaurs that make your run more difficult in every level, but don’t worry, to defeat them you will have your own arsenal that you can unlock every powerful weapon with the coins you catch during the game. Relic run it’s freemium, but with your skills you will able to play the game for long time and without use any money :D.

What can we say about The Room? it’s not a surprise if this game is considered like a drug, too addictive and with an extremely intriguing plot. Actually the first time I tried the  I couldn’t stop playing and I used to play every time I had a free minute. From the first appearance in the Apple Store in 2012, the first chapter was nominated as “The Best Apple Game of The Year”, not so bad for “The Fireproof game” considering the competition in the App Store. In the following years they have developed 2 chapters more, even if the third one is momentarily available only for the App Store and Amazon Store. What about the gameplay?
